Say wot? |
Well, enough rambling.
Out of curiosity, I then decided to interview a friend of mine, Nathan Byrne who is currently in his final year of a Bachelor of Music at Melbourne University and is an accomplished pianist and conductor, trying to get a scope on how much does music really matter to someone in the music scene:
Me: What does music mean to you?
N: Ah, that's a big one... I guess music means many things to me; it means sharing, communication, I guess bringing people together, for me primarily, to a common love.
Me: If one day if you were diagnosed with noise induced hearing loss how would it affect your life and what would you do instead of music?
N: I guess...I don't actually know...The way I am, I built my life around music in such a way that I think if I was to lose the ability to hear, I would feel like I had lost one of my limbs I guess..

Seeing how much music means so much to myself as well as many of you guys out there, i decided to hold my very own and this site's first, awareness week.
More specifically, an awareness week on the impact of noise-induced acquired hearing loss on musicians and ways we can prevent and reduce the chances of such a debilitating impairment. In this week, I'll see what kind of information I can dig up about how sound works, mechanisms of noise induced hearing loss, and as well as ways to minimize and reduce the damage to our ears.
